Sandy Sanchez, Ph.D. at the University of Texas, Pan American, Edinburg, Texas, invited Alberto Salinas, Jr. to speak and to make a presentation on curanderismo, traditional healing, to her nursing class of 70 students on June 24, 2005. After a brief autobiography, Alberto proceeded with a presentation of several short videos on his life long experience as a traditional healer and as a channeler of the spirit of El Nino Fidencio. Alberto followed with practicing traditional limpias, barridas, desalojos, despojos, (cleansings). Afterwards, the presentation included a spiritual session. Alberto involked and channeled the spirit of Nino Fidencio who presented his theraputic spiritual mission to the nursing students. The students experienced spiritual therapy.
In the past, Alberto has made presentations at the University of Texas Pan American, Department of Social Work as a guest speaker to Alonso Cavazos' class. (A. Cavazos, Ed.D, LCSW, LPC). Alberto made a presentation at the Medical School, in Harlingen, Texas, at the University of Texas, San Antonio, Texas, at Mark Glazer's Ph.D. of Anthropoloy, class at the University of Texas Pan American, Edinburg, Texas, Servando Hinojosa's Ph.D. Social Sciences Department at Pan American University, Edinburg, Texas, Robert Trotter's, Ph.D. of Antropology, Pan American University, Edinburg, Texas.
